40 Years! WOW!!!

Ron and I have been married for over 40 years now.  Crazy!!

Our anniversary was on April 21st.  We actually celebrated it last summer by going on our cruise to Alaska.  So, this year we kept things simple.  We went to Dallas for the weekend; a trip to the temple, a tour of Cowboy's stadium, and a stay in a lovely hotel (thanks to our girls; Becca and Leslie).

Last spring, Ron and I went to the Arboretum on our anniversary weekend.  Ron was such a good sport about walking around the flower gardens.  I thought the least I could do for him was take him to see the Cowboys' stadium.  I think he really enjoyed the tour; but, I just kept getting more and more angry about the fact that the owner has made it almost impossible for the average fan to ever afford a ticket to a game.  It is $39.99 for standing room!

After our tour, we found the hotel where the girls had made our reservation.  We were given sparkling apple cider and chocolate dipped strawberries when we checked in.
There was also breakfast in bed the next morning.

The decor was beautiful.  I loved the colors they used in the room.  This is the only picture I managed to take that showed the soft gray walls, the wallpaper, and the drapes.
It was such a soothing color combination.

The room was on the 18th floor and the view was spectacular.  The hotel also had a meditation garden with a walking path, but we never got a chance to go through it.  I could see it from our window and it looked beautiful.

After our trip to Dallas, we managed to get back to town in time to attend the annual tri-ward social out at the McKinnley homestead.  It is a wonderful gathering of church members where we enjoy homemade french fries, homemade rootbeer, and delicious BBQ.  Bishop McKinnley caps off the evening with his own fireworks display.  It is is never a disappointment.

Maggie thought the fireworks were a little loud.
Poppy to the rescue!

My camera isn't really made for this type of shot.
Not too bad though...

The girls loved the look, but not the sound!

Ron was such a dork.  He kept going around and thanking everyone for coming out for out 40th anniversary party.  From the look on some of their faces, I think they might have believed him!
It was great, but next year we are going back to Alaska!
